The thing I loved about reading Martin was the complete phoniness of his
British airs, all the time proclaiming his keen fondness for "ye olde way"
as if anyone in this country had ever used "roger" as a synonym for sexual
intercourse.  I can imagine Donnie trying to pass as British when he is
around people he is dure don't know him.

Lipsync was good for leading the regulars around by the nose; in fact, the
chili recipe may have been the height of comedy in the old days, with Marty
listing ingredients in metric instead of English volumes and weights.  They
all gushed over a contrived recipe that would take them hours to covert to
usable measures and that contained more candy than garilc.  The mindless
Blanche Nonken offered a measure of blood for the broth; throw in Susie
Alexander and Judy Bandsma and my mind harkens the opening scene of MacBeth.
Except around a chili pot.

The Rice sisters, both of them, are creepy, dark people manifestly to be
avoided.

His writing is hilarious - great fun to read.  The English language in
Ceppa's hands is like a machinegun in the hands of a toddler.  When they
pull the trigger, watch out.
