The problem with AM stereo is that there are 4 different systems in use, and
no one (that I know of) makes a radio that's capable of decoding all 4. Most
car radios now (that HAVE AM stereo capability) are equipped to recieve
Motorola C-QUAM, and for that reason, C-QUAM is beginning to be the standard.
Just my personal opinion, I doubt that very many of the broadcasters that
invested in the other systems are gonna want to invest the bucks to covert
their stations a second time.
