We were talking about other, lunar, New Years - Chinese and Jewish 
particularly - and I thought I was posting it on the interfaith echo.
It  sounds like you did have a fun, sober, New Year's eve - we went out
to dinner on New Year's eve and I made my sober alkie's new year's 
drink for myself and him.  He'd never tried it before and he liked it.

I like this particular drink because it's a grown up soft drink and it 
looks like a hard drink or close enough, that most folks won't bug you 
over your not drinking.  What it is is 1/2 Welch's brand WHITE Grape 
juice mixed with 1/2 sparkling water - like Perrier's or Pellagrino's.
It is not as sweet as normal soft drinks, which is why I call it a 
"grown up" soft drink.   I love the stuff.  I don't remember how I came
up with the recipe - I believe from somebody else, but I don't remember
who.
