Well, when Oracle charges for the standby box, that's also only for the
database, so the comparison is still valid.

As for per-user, I can't imagine going per-user on a production database,
per-CPU gets cheaper at a pretty low number of users.

Oh, and if you go per-user with Oracle you have to buy a minimum of 25
users.   (Or maybe 25 per CPU, I can't remember now.   I was so
horrified at the idea of having to pay for the licenses for the standby
box, it addled my brain.)
