Greetings Roy!
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Roy Witt wrote to Don Guy:
#RW#> Gee, that's been a long time ago. I'm trying to remember, but all
#RW#> I can remember about it was a warning tag on the speedometer that
#RW#> said something to the effect that if you didn't drive it right, you
#RW#> could damage the engine.
Ack. It could be worse, I suppose--there could've been a governor on it. ;-)
#RW#> I doubt it. Although the CARB has started a retro-fit to 75-81
#RW#> cars. Those were, if you recall, the cars with all the smog devices
#RW#> that didnt' work well.
Hmmm... My Acadian would probably fall into that category...
#RW#> A friend of mine had his 75 Camaro, 350/350 done. It seems to run
#RW#> smoother and he says it gets better milage. Course they made him
#RW#> do a tuneup first (plugs and wires)...that may have helped the
#RW#> milage.
I know the car I'm driving now prefers to have its catalytic conv. in place.
I drove it for a day with a piece of pipe jammed in there instead, after the
flange and support bracket rusted away. :-)
#RW#>>> Well, there's no smog on the moon...yet.
DG>> ...and no atmosphere. :(
#RW#> Bottled propane, oxygen and an old clunker could change that.
Good point. I wonder what driving would be like in an environment that has
what, somewhere between a quarter and a third of the gravity that earth does?
:-)
