As I said, mileage varies. Also, it's hard to tell if you're getting
improvement due to most scanners not having a signal level meter.
CB> I saw the pro-2042 in the new catalog. It doesn't mention anything
 CB> about tone squelching.
IIRS, CTCSS squelch can be added if you're handy with a soldering iron. It's
basically the same modification as on the Pro-2035, which is the same mod as
for the 2004/2005/2006.

board.
The catalog came out back in August or September, based on information put
together back in June and July.
CB> There is also no mention about this in the catalog. A friend of mine has
CB> reccommended getting a scanner with this CTCSS system. I would really
like

As I mentioned before, such a modification can be made to the Pro-2042 if you
locate the plans and aren't worried about ripping into the guts of your
scanner. I've not had a use for it, so I never paid attention.
CB> If I go for the PRO 2042, then I will probably invest in a roof mounted
CB> antennna. I want to go all the way with this. :)
Radio Shack has a cute little (36") magnet mount all-band scanner antenna,
page 57 of the 1998 catalog (item 4 on the right-hand side, 20-012). I used
one for some time, both mounted on a vehicle and inside my home, with good
results.
... There's no argument that can't be solved with a 12 gauge.
