theism = belief in god(s)  

There's no religion involved.  

What is needed is a better definition of belief.  That I trust in 
something is not the same as believing in a sky daddy.  And, unlike 
believers in god(s), I have no problens in changing my level of 
trust or removing it altogether. 

Case in point is Cold Fusion  

Belief in it when first announced:  90%  
Belief after first attempts to duplicate fail: 40% 
Belief after errors in initial experiments discovered: 0%  

The problem is in the use of the definition.  Another example is 
that of the Theory of Evolution.  Those opposed to the Theory do not 
use the scientific definition of the word.  They use the lay version 
where it's merely a guess, rather than it is a documented and data 
supported scientific process.   

That I believe that the sun rises and sets every day:  99.9...%+ 

I'll get back to you if it doesn't or it stands still some day.  But, 
try not to hold your breath on that.
