subject: MsgEd TE 04, DOS version: Serious bug

Hallo All!

To everybody who is using the MsgEd TE 04 16-Bit DOS version: There is a
serious bug in it: It corrupts the squish message base. This is due to the
not-working Squish locking mechanism that I had commented out for the OS/2
version, but forgot to comment out for the DOS version. Sorry if this
corrupted anyone's message base. (It normally can be fixed with sqfix
without loosing any mail).

So: Don't use MsgEd TE 04 in the 16-Bit DOS version for Squish folders. If
you have a C compiler, you can recompile the source on your own and set
-DNO_SQUISH_LOCKING into the makefile. That should cure the problem. If you
don't have a C compiler, you can freqest TEDOSFIX.ZIP here or get it from
http://wwwcip.rus.uni-stuttgart.de/~phy28258/bin/tedosfix.zip. It contains
a 16 bit DOS executable with no other modifications besides the removed
broken Squish routines.

All archives of MSGEDTE4.ZIP requested from my system or downloaded from my
homepage after 21:00 today, will contain the fixed executable. If you are
not sure if you have the fixed one or not - the fixed one should look as
follows:

    23.04.98 20.18 277588 0 msged.exe

Sorry again. (That's what I deserve if I release executables for operating
systems that I do not use on my own ... )

Viele Gruesse,
Tobias
