Hi, Donald:
DB> I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but does anyone
DB> out there have ANY information on AM Stereo?
There's plenty of very knowledgeable folks on this Scanradio Echo, and I'm
sure they'll be happy to help if they have any technical info (which I
n't).
Fido also has a "Broadcast Echo" which is populated with lots of people who
work as DJ's and technical staff for AM & FM radio stations around the US, so
that should be a very good source of info.
Also, I'm pretty sure that I've seen this discussed in Monitoring Times
magazine over the years, especially in their "American Bandscan" column,
which covers AM broadcasting. The column editor is Doug Smith (W9W1), and
his Internet email is 72777.3143@compuserve.com. If he's unavailable for
some reason (like maybe on a Christmas vacation) and you're in a hurry for
the info, you can try calling the editorial office of the magazine at (704)
837-9200, and maybe someone might be around who happens to know, or they can
give you another resource or two to contact. They're *very* good about
helping people out with inquiries like yours, and an *excellent* radio
magazine too (definitely worth checking out, if you haven't read it before.
Ask for a free sample copy; if one is available, they'll be happy to send it
to you - get a copy of their radio equipment catalog too, while you're at it.
[And, no, I don't work for them or anything; I've just found them to
*always* provide excellent products *and* service, in addition to a very
well-done magazine.] )
Hope this helps, Donald. If so, remember me when you hit the Lottery!
Cheers,
Frank
