That way they can reinstall at will without pestering you for the install media. I know that's not much help, but I always had trouble using an MSP client-equipped PC when outside my company domain. It's been over five years, but as I recall I had to boot the machine unconnected from any network, then plug in a network cable and do an ipconfig release/renew to get an address at hotels with high-speed internet.
