Although I speak Dutch, my sense is that most Dutchmen speak English. 
Swedish might be another matter.:-)

As for automated tellers (ABM or ATM) machines, they work well -- in 1995 I
was able to get funds from my Canadian account in the Netherlands or
Belgium.  However, I normally use my VISA so that I don't accumulate a
foreign country's cash.
