TH> Better scanner or better antenna?
Hi Troy,
I picked up a new antenna. It is a better handheld scanner antenna I
adapted to the mobile unit. It didn't make much of an improvement though.
I am also looking for a better base scanner
TH> Scanner: Radio Shack's Pro-43 handheld or Pro-2042 base/mobile. The

I saw the pro-2042 in the new catalog. It doesn't mention anything about
tone squelching. I saw a review of another Radio Shack scanner in
the 11/97 Popular Electronics. The reviewed scanner isn't even in the new
catalog, but it mentions a CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Controlled Squelch
System) option board. There is also no mention about this in the catalog.
A friend of mine has reccommended getting a scanner with this CTCSS system.
I would really like to get the PRO-2042, but only if I can get this CTCSS
board.
TH> Antenna: If you're using the scanner in home or auto, just about any
TH> home or auto scanner antenna will increase sensitivity over the pack-i

If I go for the PRO 2042, then I will probably invest in a roof mounted
antennna. I want to go all the way with this. :)
