TG> Hello, how are you and the birds? Ours are great.
Not too bad, I would imagine! I'm down to just Cricket, the lovebird. I
sold my cockatiel to a breeder, since she was wild, and I just haven't had
the time to spend with her to get her tamed. She will do very well there,
with the company of others of her kind. As for the budgie, he had to be put
down. :( He had a serious case of diarhea, to the point where all his vent
feathers were now gone, and nothing we did (or the vet did) could cure him.
I thought it was better this way, especially considering that I had the other
two birds to think about. But it wasn't an easy decision.
TG> I grew them a pot of grass on the patio. When I gave it to them
TG> it was real long and seeding. I gave it two days survival with
TG> the birds. It lasted about three hours, but they enjoyed
 TG> themselves.
I just moved into a nice townhouse, and when I was clearing the back yard,
there was a lot of overgrown grass, with lovely seed heads on them. So I
took a bunch of it for my bunny, and gave cricket a clump of it as well,
after seeing your message. She was weary of it at first, but then really got
into it! :)
TG> We do not spray them in the shower or tub.
I just put the water bottle on "mist" and gently spray cricket with it. Her
feathers are so fine, that it doesn't take much for her to get nice and wet
(but not too wet!) She sits there and fluffs up, enjoying the water.
TG> We also have four cats that stay in the house. For an hour or
TG> two each day we have "bird time".
I might have to try that sometime! I can put the cats downstairs (where
their litter box is anyhow) and just let Cricket go where she will. She
isn't much for flying, and prefers to just climb all over me! She especially
likes sitting on my head.
TG> Thos, our first bird, and the oldest and most spoiled, is also
TG> very territorial about the computer desk and anything on it. He
TG> can get almost vicious if we try to do something at the desk and
TG> he's in one of THOSE moods. That's about the only time my husband
TG> will get aggraviated at him and put him back in the den. The other
TG> two just like to check out everything, and chew a bit.
I now avoid at all costs bringing Cricket to the computer room. I just get
upset with her when she hogs the keyboard, and snaps at us if we try to type
anything. I usually pick her up, and lay her on her back in my hand, telling
her firmly "NO", then put her back in her cage.
TG> We had some real bad weather with tornado sightings a few days ago.
Wow. We very rarely get tornados here in Ottawa. We had one hit a few years
ago that did a lot of damage, but mostly we just get very heavy
thunderstorms. It would be very scary.
TG> Well, it's late so I think I will head to bed. Hope you're
 TG> enjoying the summer.
So far so good! :) Hope yours is good too!
Chris
