CB> I agree that everyone learns best when they are interested in the

CB> 2. A driver's ed student that doesn't want to learn to parallel

CB> 3. A student cook that doesn't clean up the dishes.
Michael Martinez:
-> The big problem with what you're saying is that you fail to realize
-> that natural selection in Illich's environment will automatically
-> weed out the student pilots who aren't cut out for it, from those who
-> are good at it. Or the surgeons. Or whoever. The other thing is,
-> your neighborhood will automatically know who the bad "self-taught"
-> surgeons are and who the good ones are, so very quickly the bad one
-> will have a dwindling practice. When you ask your neighbors to
-> recommend a good surgeon, they'll tell you.
Michael,
You have GOT to be KIDDING!!
We are going to allow ill-qualified persons to fly planes and operate on
people and harm others and be a danger to society in the name of finding
out who is qualified and who is not?
Tell you what, will let you be the guinea pig to test out the surgeons
on.
