Dole seems to be going out of his way to alienate his early backers in
an effort to curry favor with the more moderate center.  So far, there
is no evidence that he is accomplishing anything beyond alienating his
early backers.
Meanwhile Slick Willie's re-election campaign is ticking along like a
Swiss watch.
COULD it be turned around yet?  Sure.  Will it be turned around?  So
far, there's no evidence that Dole has a clue.
Max, I'm aware that a lot can happen yet.  Yet there's certainly good
reason for pessimism at this point.
Regardless, we still need to keep the Republicans in control of
Congress.  Best not to get so hung up over the Presidential race that we
forget about the Congress.
