Why do I need a patch server? Downloading the latest service packs and all
the separate patches and sticking them on a memory stick works great, I can
take patches anywhere with me, no server, no network, no internet, no
nothing required except either a usb port or a CD drive. This is simple and
simple is good (which is why I want it even simpler).
The pain comes from having to install so many different patches where there
really isn't any reason for it. MS sometimes makes a single exe that
patches multiple issues (IE, OE, ISA server, SQL server are all
cumulative), so I fail to understand why when they are releasing 6 patches
at once they can't just roll them all into one exe and issue one patch for
the month.
