I'm not sure.  The libertarians got about 300,000 votes last time
around.  Now, if the NRA endorses Browne and he gets 3 million votes,
that would indeed send a powerful message to both parties.
But what happens if the NRA endorses him, and he only gets 300,000 votes
this time?  That would send a message that the NRA's endorsement is
USELESS!
My own opinion is that the NRA is a **COALITION** of Conservatives and
Libertarians, along with the occasional odd Democrat/Civil Libertarian
who "GETS IT" about the 2nd Ammendment.
NO WAY will the Conservatives vote for Browne, even if the NRA does
endorse him.  The Libertarian position on Drugs, or Abortion, or
something similar will prevent THAT from ever happening.
Plus, I suspect that a majority of the NRA's officers & BoD are from
the Conservative wing, not the Libertarian wing.
I'll be very surprised if the NRA endorses Browne.
BTW, the Libertarian "party" has yet again erupted into faction fights.
(I never know whether to laugh or cry when I watch Libertarian Party
politics.)
A small, but vocal group of longtime party activists, are denouncing
Browne for not being a **REAL** Libertarian.
Among the claims they are making:
Harry Browne never in his life made ANY public pronouncement about the
RKBA until prodded into doing so by Libertarian activists.
Harry Browne doesn't personally own any guns.
If true, I find that last one **REAL** curious.  What kind of REAL
libertarian doesn't own guns?
