From: "Frank Haber" >With HT the actual multiprocessing PC became much more common I recently had the opportunity to run the same repetetive operations on 3-4 roughly comparable P4 2.8-3.2GHZ desktops, some with, some without HT. There's no doubt that the user experience is improved by HT. As usual, it's not so much more muscle on the difficult operations as it is crispness in switching and startup that pleases. I wouldn't even know how to begin benchmarking what I clearly can see and feel. The crowd here knows this well - they know how much smoother a dual-proc PPro was than the contemporary cheapies. As to the crashes - I haven't seen very many HT incompatibilities.
