 Yes, but introducing nanites would require close personal contact with each
 Borg. I, personally, like  the tribble idea better. 
 
 "Beam over the mutated tribbles, Chief. Prepare to retreat, Ensign"
 "Tribbles are at destination, Captain."
 "Retreat  at warp 10, Ensign!!!"
 "Retreating, sir!"
 And  their "Tribble and Run" mission accomplished, they retreat to a safe 
 distance to watch as the tribbles consume the guts of the cube.
