i agree with this as well as ensuring that their format is properly
documented... it is possible that other mailers running in parallel may also be
able to use them as semaphores to know when to or not connect to other
systems... plus the ability to have a monitor tool that can display the status
of mail and system connections kind of like what frontdoor, dbridge and other
full-feature mailers have...
