SATURN AND ITS MOONS

The ringed planet shines high and bright in the evening, between Procyon
and the Castor-and-Pollux twins. If you've got a telescope, be sure to
read our Observing Guide to Saturn:

http://SkyandTelescope.com/observing/objects/planets/article_304_1.asp

Practically any telescope will also show Saturn's largest moon, Titan, and
most scopes will show more moons too. Print out a map of all of Saturn's
visible moons customized for the time you plan to observe, and bring it to
the eyepiece:

COMET MACHHOLZ UPDATE

The season's fine binocular comet continues fading, but it will again be
visible in a dark sky free of moonlight starting around Saturday the 26th
(if you look soon after dark). Glowing at 5th or 6th magnitude, it's high
in the northern sky near Polaris. Use our finder chart at

SKY AT A GLANCE

The Moon is full on Wednesday the 23rd. Big Jupiter rises in the east
around 9:30 p.m. this week, with the Moon near it on the 26th and 27th.
