Don't pick on the Christian right now. They may have nothing to do with
the concept of single-sex classes. I don't know where the idea
originated and Im not really in favor of it. Neither am I in favor of
dismissing it without giving it some consideration. It does have some
merit from what I have been able to read about it. The basic idea I
think is to eliminate the boy/girl stuff, both the romantic and the
pressure (especially the pressure) so that students can concentrate on
whats more important: Schoolwork.
There was a posting of information a few weeks ago. I thought I still
had it but I got rid of it. I think the topic came up after the posting
which was of a district that was promoting the idea?
As far as single race classes are concerned, I think there is a big
difference between single race and single sex classrooms. But your
point is well-taken...there isn't much difference IMO in race
discrimination vrs sex discrimination. Prejudice in any form runs
contrary to my belief system.
Thanks for your thoughts Tom...
