| subject: | Lovebird Health |
I have a 6-month old lovebird who appears to be the picture of
health (we also have 2 budgies and another older lovebird). He
has an extremely healthy appetite and has loads of energy.
The strangest thing, though--sometimes his urine is an
orangeish-yellow color. Not all the time, but sometimes, and
it's been on and off for a number of weeks. We did have our
avian vet give him a checkup when we first got him in
December--and he was fine. He eats a lot of Protein 21 which
is very yellow in color. Otherwise--avicakes, nutriberries,
broccoli, apples, millet, cheerios. He has pellets in his
dish as well, but it's hard to see if he is actually eating
them. They are the colored ones. I have a call into our
avian vet to see if he thinks he should see the bird, but I
was also wondering if anyone has ever experienced this with
their birds. I cannot find anything directly relating to this
in our books or online. If it were some kind of kidney
ailment, I would think I would at least run across it. We
have had birds for years, and I am familiar with how they act
when they are ill, and also am aware they act healthy until
very sick. Because this is an on and off thing, I've just
been thinking it's something he's eating.
