Sorry, but you don't know local conditions. And until you do, and understand
why folks are upset in various regions around the nation about kids being put
on drugs that actually do not need them, then you don't have the right to
think that you know everything about this.
The lousier mental health workers will tell someone to try one drug, then
another "to see if it works". Which is exactly what those who abuse other
drugs do. They have a terrible role model in the health care professionals
who refuse to take a decent history.
I have been to four "new" doctor's offices in the past three or four years
after my doctor retired. And none of them, none of them, had a questionaire
which provided space for what I ate daily, nor did it ask about my family
history at all.
One or two of them did ask about what vitamins I took daily.
You have been very lucky. Other families are not. We still do not know all
about the causation of ADD or ADHD, but the article I downloaded and read
from the National Institute of Mental Health stated that two drugs were
considered to affect children in utero, alcohol and cocaine.
WERE YOU EVER QUESTIONED ABOUT YOUR DRUG USE DURING THE PREGNANCY OF THE
CHILD DIAGNOSED ADD or ADHD? If not, why not?
DID YOU EVER GET ASKED ABOUT A HISTORY OF THIS IN THE CHILD'S FAMILY?
If not, why not?
