SATURN SHINES HIGH AND BRIGHT

Smack amid the bright constellations of February evenings is the bright

COMET MACHHOLZ

The "Christmas Comet" continues fading this week as it heads northward
toward Polaris. Despite increasing moonlight (and Christmas being long
gone), Comet Machholz is still easily visible in binoculars as a
5th-magnitude fuzzball -- if you know where to look.

AN ECLIPSING BINARY IN THE TRAPEZIUM

Every 65 days, one of the four Trapezium stars in the Orion Nebula gets
eclipsed. Telescope users in Europe and eastern North America will have a
good view one of these events on the night of the 15th.
