* EleBBS Support List Hi Drew, > what networks can ele bbs connect to for messagees? > I know there are alot of types out there. fido, wwiv, etc. > how is this done in ele bbs. anybody runnign networks? EleBBS can be used with any FTN (FidoNet Technology Network). You will need two things: 1. A Tosser/Scanner to import/export mail packets into your EleBBS messagebase. FastEcho and Fmail are popular. Fmail is free. 2. Something resembling a Mailer. Mailers were once known as "Front End Mailers" because they answered the modem calls, and if it was a human calling the modem then the mailer would run the BBS. Front Door, Intermail, D'Bridge and BinkleyTerm were used in the old days (DOS based), and more modern ones which support TCP such as Argus/Radius, BinkD, and Internet Rex. I'd suggest using Argus or Radius (Radius is based on Argus). There's a tutorial here: http://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/argus/ In addition to standard FTN networks, you could also run a QWK based network by using a special tosser/scanner like XSH or "Shut up and run the mail". QWK was designed for letting users download their messages from a BBS, so using it as a network is somewhat kluged but other BBS's such as Synchronet do it.
