What do you expect? We're suppsed to be kept in the dark and accept
'because I said so" answers. This sort of answer has been drilled into
us since birth. Asking why is ... is.... uh.. Dangerous!

I hate the asnwer too. Yes it IS cynical but that's how it is in
life. "Just because" is often the answer we have to accept to just about
everything because nobody wants to make waves; take the time to explain WHY
perhaps because "WHY" is so stupid as to embarrass the hell out of
people explaining it; or maybe WHY might reveal illegal activity
perhaps or activiity that ought to be illegal if only enough people
were aware of it to cause some ruckus about it.

That's it right there my friend. You can ask why, but chances are for
the sake of status quo, you won't get the answer you want. That's how it is! :(

It's how those in power stay in power... they 'explain' what they do
by patting you on the head saying, "for your own good'... we know
best."

If we could find the real reason for this I betcha people would get
their balls in an uproar and the practice would reverse.... or
something. See peole have to be kept in the dark so the machinary of
greed can stay well oiled....

This was the once the heart and soul of capitalism. The small
business man... yes. The beauty of it is unequaled... but now we have
big business and they pretty much do what they dam well please...
including outsourcing labor cuz gee it's cheaper over there....

"Sound business reasons " is same thing as saying 'Becasue we can'.

 Doesn't really answer the question...
