The French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson is great stuff (there are two
releases, dunno if either is still in print...) but way off the wall even
by Thompson's standards.  Lotsa fun, but not really representative. 
However, the "Live, Love, Larf and Loaf" album has my all-time
favorite Thompson tune, "Drowned Dog Black Night" on it.

I'd suggest starting with "You? Me? Us?"
