Naybe you were. :-)  I did not drive 1050 km every day.

I actually expected to see more and I haven't seen a bear in several years.

We have a few more choices than that -- a highway which goes from Alberta
to Hay River and Yellowknife and a highway which goes from Dawson City to
Inuvik, NWT.  And Alaska has significant road network.
