subject: Any U/L Experts Out There

Hi,
I'm new to modems, and I'm having an U/L problem that I haven't been able
to solve myself:
I tried U/Ling two ZIP files to three different local BBS's. This was my
first try with files, although I've been U/Ling much smaller QWK packett
replies for several weeks without a problem.
One file was 64,784 bytes, and it U/Led without a problem. The other
file is 521,498 bytes, and it aborted five times, after successfully
transfering between 78,xxx and 185,xxx bytes!!!
There was no warning-no indication anything was wrong. The U/L dialog
box showed 0 errors, and the status line said OK. One second the box was
there humming along and the next it was gone!
I don't think the problem is line noise, because to test it I D/Led a
ZIP file from the boards, after the U/Ls failed, with no problems.
I don't know what specific info to provide those of you willing to help
me, so if you need something other than what follows, please let me know,
and I'll provide it.
I'm using QmodemPro for Windows 1.11c and a Hayes Ult/Optima 144
fax/modem set at 19,200 bps, Zmodem protocol with CTS/RTS On, DTE
locked, full duplex and ANSI emulation set at 018.
I started with the speed set at 115,xxx baud and reduced it to 57,xxx,
then finally to 19,200, but that didn't solve the problem.
Any help that you can give me will be appreciated!
