Hi, Robert!
Although this conference is for the discussion of professional audio only, 
not consumer electronics and stuff (we do talk about high-end soundcards for 
audio production) we'll go ahead and let your question slide!
There are a number of good sound cards out there for home use...make sure you 
get a good 16-bit sound card...you can still get an 8-bit sound card for 
about $40 at places...but you'll appreciate the difference if you spend $60 
or more for a 16-bit card.  A better one will be $100 or more.
