Hello Jerry!
Answering a msg of , from Jerry Hensley to
Michael Mcreary:
Help me understand your message a little better. You advocate that:
1. The tongues spoken in Acts 2 were Hebrew and the Holy Ghost translated
them into others' languages?
2. That speaking in tongues as practiced in the Pentecostal movement is
of the devil?
Let me tell you where I'm coming from. I am Holiness, Pentecostal
(Trinitarian). I have never been involved in the Charismatic movement,
itself. We prefer the older-fashioned ways.
I will state that I believe there ARE imitations in some churches. For
every real thing, there is an imitation--even where salvation is
concerned.
Yet, there ARE genuine, Holy Ghost-filled people in the Charismatic and
Pentecostal churches. There IS a reality in the baptism of the Holy
Ghost, as evidenced in speaking in tongues.
For anyone to state that they "used" to be Pentecostal and then turn and
deny the Pentecostal experience as being wrong or of the devil is on
EXTREMELY dangerous turf. Why? You can't plead ignorance before God. He
won't let you. You know better.
IHS,
Michael McReary
