Mulling over George Pope to STEVE ASHER 28 Dec 2004 SA> He seems to have gone very quiet. "The Pentagon" is now claiming it was SA> a "speaking error", according to WND. This is on a par with "wardrobe SA> malfunction". GP> Or more on a par with Clinton trying to claim he merely told GP> Monica to "sack my cook"! Or Jimmy Carter describing the failure to rescue the American hostages in Iran as an "incomplete success", or G W Bush describing the Iraqi invasion as a "catastrophic success". I must get a copy of Don Watson's book, "Weasel Words". He was being interviewed yesterday, and "misspoke" got a mention. A bad choice of words for the Pentagon minder, as it apparently is a euphemism for "lied". Cheers, Steve.. ---* Origin: "Yes, Prime Minister" - Sir Humphrey (3:800/432) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 800/432 633/260 261/38 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
