JANE KELLEY was thinking about Ritalin and NIMH and keyed into
cyberspace:
JK> KA> JK> Found article and I quote: "Attention lapses caused by
JK> KA> petit mal seizures
JK> KA> JK> be confused with ADHD". Exactly what I have been
JK> KA> complaining about.
JK> KA> You've been copmplaining about NIMH's caution not to confuse
JK> KA> ADHD with a completely different condition?
JK>No, I have been complaining about the tendency of folks such as
JK>yourself to act like profane experts on all kinds of "mental"
JK>conditions without the knowledge of the physical causes of behavior.
JK>In short, the courses in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology,
JK>chemistry, and a hord of other subjects that medical and nursing
JK>folks study.
You sidestepped that one, again. You were complaining about it.
Jane, remember when I told you that I have those courses. In fact, I
told you that I teach those courses. However, you do not accept what
anyone who disagrees with you says.
JK>And that those who do have a medical background would not be guilty
JK>of trying to persuade a parent of a child with a seizure disorder
JK>that any drug, other than that for the seizure condition itself,
JK>would fix deviant behavior.
First off, ADHD is NOT deviant behavior. Second, it has been clinically
demonstrated that a controlled seizure disorder will not be affected by
the use of MPH to aid in the treatment of ADHD. But I have told you that
before. You choose to remain clueless.
JK>In fact, the NIMH article stated that some behavior problems were to
JK>be expected with children who had petit mal seizures.
It did not. We know your reading comprehension skills are somewhat,
shall we say, deficient.
JK> KA> Mark Probert has never denied that restricted diet helps people
JK> KA> with food allergies. He, and other people such as myself, deny
JK> KA> that restricted diet helps people with ADHD.
JK>He has denied that anyone diagnosed with ADHD could be helped with a
JK>remedial diet.
Absolutely correct. True, properly diagnosed, ADHD cannot be treated
with a remedial diet. The diet theory has been debunked more times than
you ignore facts.
I insist that many are so diagnosed who actually do
JK>not have this problem.
And many who have this problem go undiagnosed because of scare mongers
and the terminally clueless.
JK>And who should be seen by someone with a medical background to find
JK>out what might be going on.
Korsakoff's Syndrome?
JK> KA> JK> Also found a statement that ADHD is linked to both the use
JK> KA> of alcohol and o
JK> KA> JK> cocaine during pregnancy. As this is usually by addicts, as
JK> KA> a chemical
JK> KA> JK> dependency counselor, I object vigorously to the
JK> KA> prescription of any drug f
JK> KA> JK> any human by anyone unless addiction in the immediate family
JK> KA> is factored in
JK> KA> JK> the history! It is all too evident to me that this is not
JK> KA> being done.
JK> KA> I agree that many doctors are negligent in researching personal
JK> KA> and family background when prescribing medications. However,
JK> KA> there have been no known incidents of addiction resulting from
JK> KA> Ritalin use in the treatment of ADHD.
JK>KNOWN BY WHOM? I know one chemical dependency counselor who would
JK>disagree with your statement. Also so does the doctor whose article
JK>I downloaded, Peter Briggs, I think.
You are talking about Peter Breggin. A known anti-medication for
psychiatry, husband of a scientologist, liar. His most recent book begs
credulity as there are so many factual errors that I found it hard to
read.
I am frankly too lazy at this
JK>time of the morning to go dig it out of file. I downloaded some 20
JK>pages when I entered "Ritalin" in a search engine, and his was the
JK>largest.
Yep. He has a P.H.D. That is *P*iled *H*igher and *D*eeper.
