Aren't they nice? I have the Uniden 895XLT model and I'm very pleased
with it.

Do you have internet access? There are several sites on the WWW with
frequency and talkgroup codes for various states. You can also try
to figure out what talkgroup codes go to which service by carefully
listening to the traffic...but that takes time and sometimes you're
guessing...as you know.
If you have access to the internet, do a search using the keywords
"trunk tracker" and you will find one site sponsored by the Bearcat
Radio Club plus another one who'se name escapes me at the moment.
They seem to be fairly accurate although in my case some of the data
for the trunked system I want to monitor have errors that I haven't
tracked down.
Yes, you can specify talkgroup codes to be placed into seperate
banks by type of service. I have all the dispatch codes for the
trunked system I monitor sitting in one bank and all the tactical
talkgroup codes for each service in seperate banks grouped by
service and type of comms. That way I can turn off whole banks
and skip routine chit-chat until something happens that I want
to monitor. You do this by manually programming the talkgroup
codes into each bank once you know which codes go to which
service.
