Max was heard muttering to Paul Nixon
about A Slap In The Face
(you are responding to a cross-post, I'm neither advocating nor
repudiating the expressed sentiment)
PN> I still maintain that sending Bill Clinton back to the White House for
PN> another term would be disastrous for us as a free country. He would so
PN> infect the federal judiciary with activist liberal judges that we'd be
PN> *decades* in cleansing the bench.
ML>
ML> ....snip....
ML>
PN> The Republican Party needs a good reality slap upside the head. Maybe
PN> that slap should be in the form of GunOwners telling the Republican
PN> Party to go **** *itself*.
ML>
ML> This would be, IMHO, a classic case of cutting one's nose off to
ML> spite one's face.
If we have Clinton and his ilk openly attempting to ban firearms, and
we have the other bunch willing to ban 'em but more slowly...
...which is more likely to cause us to finally draw a line in the sand?
...which is more likely to cause us to accede to just one more
incremental loss of freedom?
ML>
ML> I agree with the sentiment 100%, but I believe your first paragraph
ML> is the key. If Clinton is re-elected, the country will be so screwed
ML> up it may never recover. Yes, gun rights are vital, but so is the
ML> overall well being of the country. Any damage done to the RTKBA by
ML> Dole will be will minor compared to what Clinton will do to both the
ML> RTKBA and the country as a whole.
I'm about convinced that it's only a matter of time. And the longer we
wait the tougher it's gonna be.
Frankly folks I'm convinced that Clinton is gonna be reelected. I'm
further convinced that there will occur _some_ sort of crisis that will
precipitate the government to move to place restrictions on many of our
rights, not just the RKBA, and there's gonna be a backlash.
Now _do_not_ get the idea I'm advocating such, or wanting it. I'm too
damn old to go to the mattresses. But I'm certain it's gonna get even
more interesting.
And one of the aggravating factors is gonna be that we won't pull
together.
ML> The entire United States, not just gun owners, can not afford
ML> another 4 years of Bill Clinton as president.
Agreed.
