AIR, there is not... it was originally written in a "just get the file
to the destination with the message" type manner... it wasn't until
the network got a lot larger and busier that some of these details and
needs arose...

i know that feeling... i used to live in the FTSC docs when i was actively
coding... now i'm on the FTSC and still read them but that's about it,
these days...
