Ma> re - she signed herself out - it's hard to watch someone you love
Ma> choose death. I've had four people I loved very much go that route.
Ma> I currently have a couple of neighbors who aren't really bad people,
Ma> just bound and determined to keep drinking and/or drugging. It's sad
Ma> to watch. But in Al-Anon (I'm also in that) I learned the that I am
Ma> also powerless over alcohol (and other substances) when they are in
Ma> other bodies - not just in my own. It was such a relief when someone
Ma> taught me about the three c's - I didn't Cause it, I can't Control it,
Ma> and I can't Cure it. Now I've been able to set other people in my
Ma> life free to make their own choices and create their own lives. Doing
Ma> this sets ME free to work on what I have to do to stay sober and clean
Ma> today.
About my friend that signed herself out...I heard from her a day or so
ago and she is in the program, trying to work the steps. She has found
herself a temp-sponser and is trying...She signed herself out of a detox
because of money problems...We talk every now and then and she has put
me on her list of people to call. I sincerely hope things work out for
her.
Ma> I'm very curious about why you work with AA if you aren't IN AA. If
Ma> you would like to tell me in net-mail, since I believe we are on the
Ma> 12 steps echo and I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be limitted to the
Ma> discussion of the 12 steps.
Do you have an e-mail address? We are on the recovery echo, I believe, but
I have no idea if we could discuss this here. It does deal with AA but as
you say, it may be limited to discussion of the 12 steps.
