I hate the new version - not only because that Java
force-feed-mucho-annoyance-in-your-face thingy, but also that you can't
download it anywhere without the stupid download manager ("oh, our
download is not big enough already - let's add another app to download
before the actual download, that ought to do it"), but also the way
they've made it faster: it installs a pre-loader kinda thing that loads
some parts of the reader at system startup, wheee! Now how cool is that?
So what I did was some digging, and found this:
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php - freeware PDF viewer. Works
well, is fast & light. I don't know how it handles more complex stuff,
but all brochures & the likes I've had to view during the past month or
so have had no problems. Give it a spin.
