Apologies for the flood.  Ok, I found out that I had never disabled quick
editing, which was intercepting my mouse clicks, but still the draw won't
work with a several hundred line ansi.  I'll have to find acid draw again (I
hadn't tried that recently, I often get thedraw and aciddraw confused) I
think it handles ansi of any length (that might have been iceedit as well,
it's been forever).  I still don't know what happened to my copy of the
fully functional ans2pcx which would convert any length ansi to pcx, then
I'd use paintshoppro to convert it to a gif or jpg.  Now all I can find is
the full screen version, which isn't very helpful since a screen capture can
do more than that...  It's hard to believe that no one else has it.  All I
can find on ansi art sites and google is the full screen version which
doesn't work with a several hundred line ansi.

actually, since I can only run thedraw on my 2k box anyway, I know it
doesn't support my usb mouse.  Same with aciddraw and any of the other 16
bit editors.  And since that answer was a bit vague below (I knew that...) I
was refering to the block commands.  I guess I should try elyedit on the 2k
box; under xp64 it's pretty sketchy with the block commands.  I end up
deleting huge blocks of my ansi every time I try a block command.  Sometimes
not even what's selected.  Of course, that is with the 2.0b version as well.

Yeah, I knew that but never could get it to work properly. On the JPG part,
I'm creating ads for usenet and websites converted from ansi, not anything
to be shown from within ele.  Thedraw and aciddraw don't support usb mice,
at least not under xp64 which is my main box.  I haven't tried on my 2k box.

Click Modes > Block Mode.

Now you can use the drag the mouse to select a block, and then right
click the block to select the following commands:

Move
Copy
Erase
Replace Forground
Replace Background
Center
Apply forground to..
Apply background to..

If you are creating a screen for EleBBS, then you should not save it as
a .JPG file since EleBBS will not display image files..
