subject: How to Shrink a file.

TO: all!
I know that QUICKEN 6 has the ability to Shrink a file down to size by taking
all transactions from the top of the year and moving them to another file.
What I would like to know is the proper way to take all transactions and do
this so nothing is lost and maybe seperate the years while keeping the order
right so that if an account was open last year and not this year, it properly
show through.
My files are on line and go back to 1989. I am running on a 286 with no high
memory right now. I was running on an AT&T 6300 with a V30 chip and about the
same amount of memory. There be B-I-G Files here, Kids!
Opening this daily is a little like singing "SPRING TIME FOR HITLER" at a Bar
Mitzvah.
If not now, someday you will be sorry.
Anyone having any ideas, please speak up
                                      John aka Ranger  ;{
