BOSTON RED SOX -- Acquired pitcher Pedro Martinez from
the Montreal Expos for pitcher Carl Pavano and a
player to be named; agreed to terms with free agent pitcher Bret
Saberhagen on a one-year, $1.6 million contract.
CHICAGO CUBS -- Acquired pitcher Kurt Miller from
the Florida Marlins for a player to be named.
CINCINNATI REDS -- Acquired first baseman Dmitri Young
from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays as the player to be named
later in the Nov. 11 trade for outfielder Mike Kelly; acquired
pitcher Scott Winchester from the Arizona Diamondbacks
as the player to be named later in the Nov. 11 trade for pitcher
Felix Rodriguez.
COLORADO ROCKIES -- Acquired second baseman Mike Lansing
from the Montreal Expos for pitchers Jake Westbrook
and John Nicholson and outfielder Mike Hamlin;
re-signed free agent catcher Jeff Reed to a two-year, $2.6
million contract; signed free agent infielder Jeff Huson,
who had been with the Milwaukee Brewers, to a minor-league contract.
DETROIT TIGERS -- Re-signed first baseman Tony Clark
to a four-year contract.
MILWAUKEE BREWERS -- Re-signed free agent pitcher Doug
Jones to a one-year, $3 million contract with a club option
for 1999.
NNEW YORK YANKEES -- Acquired third baseman Scott Brosius
from the Oakland Athletics as the player to be named
later in the Nov. 7 trade for pitcher Kenny Rogers.
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES -- Acquired outfielder Bobby Abreu
from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for shortstop Kevin
Stocker.
SAN DIEGO PADRES -- Acquired pitcher Brian Boehringer
and infielder Andy Sheets from the Tampa Bay Devil
Rays for catcher John Flaherty.
SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS -- Acquired pitcher Robb Nen from
the Florida Marlins for pitchers Joe Fontenot, Mike

SEATTLE MARINERS -- Agreed to terms with second baseman
Joey Cora on a one-year, $1.65 million contract with a
club option for 1999.
TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS -- Signed free agent pitcher Roberto
Hernandez, who had been with the San Francisco Giants,
to a four-year contract, $22.5 million with a club option for
2002; acquired first baseman Fred McGriff from the Atlanta
Braves for a player to be named; named Frank Howard
bench coach, Greg Riddoch third base coach, Billy
Hatcher first base coach, Rick Williams pitching coach
and Steve Henderson hitting coach.
