| subject: | Re: SBBS & MS-Kermit |
* An ongoing debate between Michel Samson and Ben Ritchey rages on ... BR>> I noticed G-Kermit... The C-Kermit make process aborted using the BR>> Linux+OpenSSL option so I built an un-secure version to play MS: > Oh, i thought there were equivalents to executables? I can swear Nah, G-Kermit is a stripped down version for automated File Transfer only. I perused the Online Info but didn't save it as I wouldn't use it anyway. I am testing C-Kermit 8.0.209 (March 2003) under Mandrake Linux as it does so much and I needed a reliable Telnet client. It even has a Daemon mode (IKSD) that provides a Telnet + Kermit SERVER under Linux. Haven't tried that yet. :) MS: > Yes, if i'm not mistaking `K95' happens to have ~FTP~ integrated Yes, though K95 is the only one that isn't free. :( Limited Demo only. MS: > Really?! then you're quite familiar (or have been) with Actually, my BBS software only allowed Text mode transfers as it was mainly for messaging, not files. MS: > Would you happen to be using `WC-4'? Yes! I have it configured so I can bring it up (standalone, no Fido, for testing) under native MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 98SE DOS box and/or Linux DOSEmu just by executing different procs/scripts. Once the BBS is up (WC 4.20SL) it works exactly the same under all platforms and works quite well IMHO. I only have it automated with FIDOnet under DOS though. Linux is next (Windows is too glitchy, euh is right). MS: > but even if you did, it's not garanteed to be ~TelNet~ too. I think someone has done that, but I'm only Dial-up so I won't be. :) MS: > be able to remember enough about `Kermit' to make any sense out of MS: > the .INI configuration file i just created for `SBBS'? (And which MS: > was rejected)! Dunno, I'm just starting to really learn Kermit under Linux on the weekend. I used to use it (much older version) to transfer files between an IBM mainframe running VM/SP (CP+CMS) to an IBM PC, but everything was scripted. Post the INI or Netmail it and I'll look it over at least. -- Keep the faith, : Ben http://bellsouthpwp.net/c/m/cmech617/ : { FReq Magic INFO Direct for E-mail address } : + WildCat!
