Hi Sara,
SG> Recently I tried to do some cards that are folded in 3 and decorated on
SG> the slant. I also tried some new large stamps for the front of cards.
SG> It's fun.
Those sound very interesting Sara! I've been busy with my renovations on the
house I haven't had time to enjoy my rubber stamping or ribbon embroidery :-(
I did try a little pergamano yesterday while keeping an eye on my pet
abbits.
The girls where at school so I took pity on them and let them jump around in
my craft room. Much to my dismay, Vanilla decided to nibble on the cord of
the heat gun! I had the cord pulled up quite high and kept shooing them away
from that area..... but she must have nipped and ran ...... no more heat
gun..... It was practically new too!
Back to the stove element I'm afraid.. Perhaps if Michaels has a 40% off sale
again somewhere I can get someone to buy another for me.. I doubt if the cord
on this one can be fixed.
As for ribbon embroidery I just bought some cute frames. The are pewter
frames about 4 x 4 and have a small cat sitting on a ledge looking out a
window. They are quite unique and I though of making a small rose garden in
the window with silk ribbon. Make a nice little picture.....
I came across a couple of Pattern books called Ribbon Embriodery from
cross-stitching by Jeanette Crews Designs.... Victorian Elegance with a
ladies hat with ribbon roses on it... a parasel with roses.... and victorian
shoe with roses and a flower basket with roses.... The other is called
Hosewarmers...
a Welcome sign with cheribs... a window box with dangling ribbon flowers...
A wreath on a door... and a mail box with ribbon flowers up the post...
Haven't done any yet but they look quick to work up.
I have a email friend in Singapore that sent me a very good mag called:
Stamping and papercrafts. It is an Austrialian publication. New on the
arket.
One of the many projects was using a rubber stamped image and then using
ribbon embroidery to fill it in! The example was a topiary tree. The trunk
and flowers where done in silk ribbon and beads where added for a look of
elegance. The pot was a button. Another example was a large stamp of a
house. Emboridery floss was used to outline the stamped image. Very
interesting!
An article on making paper too! Even a pergamano bookmark, how to make paper
roses, paper tole, quilling, scherenschnitte, calligraphy, decoupage, and
making envelopes! Lots of advertising for all the products used in the
projects. It is a wonderful mag and worth every cent if you can find it!
