As it turns out Msged wasn't showing the ARTWARE conference in my arealist
where I expected it to be so I thought there was simply no traffic, so you
can ignore the PS. at the bottom.

Hi All,

I've spent a few hours today porting Gerard van Essen's WIMM ("Where
Is My Mail") utility to compile with the 32-bit Windows version of
Borland C++, basically so it would support long filenames. It's GPLed, so
if anyone's interested in a copy to use I'll work on getting the source
code to the state where I can release it and send you both the Win32 binary
+ source. It's had all of the windowing/display code ripped out of it, so
it now just sends stuff to stdout/stderr:

WIMM/NT 2.0 beta 1
Copyright (c) 1994 Gerard van Essen (2:281/527)
Copyright (c) 2002 Andrew Clarke (3:633/267)

Reading: wimm.cfg
4dos Scanned 12 index entries.
...
rec.autos.sport.f1.moderated Scanned 174 index entries.
Done! Total runtime: 1 seconds.

It still logs to wimm.log like the old version:

  09 Nov 14:38:50 WIMM Begin, WIMM/NT 2.0 beta 1
09 Nov 14:38:50 WIMM Personal mail found in ftsc_public!
  09 Nov 14:38:51 WIMM End, WIMM/NT 2.0 beta 1

It also uses the Husky SMAPI library, so with a few modifications it should
compile in Linux, FreeBSD, etc.

And if anyone's still reading this and confused as to what WIMM actually
is, here's the blurb from WIMM.DOC:

"WIMM (short for "Where Is My Mail") is a personal mail
scanner for Squish. It is designed to be used together with the Squish
echomail processor made by Scott Dudley.

It will read your Squish configuration file (Squish.cfg) and scan all
echomail areas listed (or all areas found in a 'echotoss.log' file), for
mail addressed to you. When it finds a personal message it will move or
copy the message to another area, or make a list of all messages found and
post that list in a message.

WIMM can be useful in several ways. Maybe you are just as curious as I am,
and want to know if there is personal mail as soon as possible, without
having to read all messages. Or maybe there's so much mail on your system,
that you can't ever read it all.. Or maybe you just want to keep your
personal messages in a seperate area..."

Regards
Andrew

PS. I would've crossposted this to the ARTWARE echo but I don't think
there's any traffic. (?)
