the other question to ask is what was the cutoff date for the "special
deal" on SA (didn't they have some special pricing or something to try
and get more people to sign up, I remember they were really pushing it for
a while) and why would they release an update prior to 3 years beyond that
cutoff date.. I mean if I were at MS making release date decisions that
would be a big reason to delay a release.
The guys from NTmail were famous for that, they would have a big push to
get everyone to sign up for the new release which came with free upgrades
for a year, then exactly 1 year and 1 month later the new release would
come out and they would start all over again. And the reason for upgrading
was always the same, to get new functions in their lacking features mostly
spam filtering. My solution was to buy an external filtering product so I
don't need their stupid updates anymore.
Geo.
