The answer to your problems... Msged 4.30 will be released in May.  4.20 b3
has many bugs.  If you want an immediate solution to *some* of the
problems, try 4.20 b2.

The bad news: it doesn't handle the lastread file in *.MSG areas AT ALL.
:-( The good news: 4.30 has no such problem. :-)
