 What can I say... you put it perfectly.

 The terrible part is that I understand why the Media does it... it
plays better on TV that way. It has nothing to do with reality, it's
just entertainment.

 I learned a lot about that writing a book. I created a character who
was a complete bastard, no conscience at all... and it didn't play. In
any book or movie, the hero is always a wimp - he feels bad when he
kills people, or he has to be driven to it by evil authority-figures
like John Rambo was driven. Then it's okay for him to be a
psycho-killer.

 If you try to write it the way it is in real life, people like Neddy
Smith who kill for no reason, or little arseholes like your 15-yo kid
who tried his best to kill the cop, it doesn't work. You read it, and
you don't like him.

 If Ray Martin tried to show the cop the way it was, armed and
stupid, being dragged down the street hanging in the door with his gun
stuck in the little arsehole's ear... I mean... he pulled the trigger
and blew the little cunt away! That's cold-blooded murder! Rambo
wouldn't do that. It'd look TERRIBLE on the large screen!

 But see how well it plays the other way. A mother crying, the nice
neighbours, a sweet little kid who could have grown up to be a famous
heart surgeon or fucked Monica Lewinski. See how much better it plays?
And you don't have to worry about some smartarse lawyer approaching
the mother to sue Channel 9 for defamation.

 Of course, you destroy the poor cop, but he won't sue. He can't say
a word anyway. The NSW Police Force gags him. Who gives a fuck about
cops? So what if it ruins his life and he shoots himself? It makes a
good 93-seconds on TV.

 BTW, do you know how I made my character work? I made him funny. I
used the John Travolta character... a funny psycho killer. It works.

 The crypto pathogen is ingested, and multiplies in the stomach. Most
viruses can't survive the stomach, they need to get into the blood. If
you swallow crypto you're in trouble.
