The interesting thing is that, according to something I once read, the birth
rates drop with increasing affluence. They are high in places where poverty is
rampent, and low - sometimes radically low (as in Germany) with a relatively
affluent population.

And people coming from places with a high birth rate tend to adapt to the local
situation, i.e. their birth rate goes down with increasing affluence. That's
something to consider in this discussion.
