MM> Funny how a break at
MM> whatever level comes back to haunt too frequently.
Some people are hard to figure out. Which ones will comply with a little
nudge, and which ones require a 2 x 4. I had a system that worked fairly well
for me on minor traffic violations, ones that I didn't really know whether I
wanted to write a ticket or a warning. They both are written on the same form
here, and the only difference is a couple of check marks and the assignment
of a court date. Mr. Chip On His Shoulder and Mrs. Big Mouth almost always
got the extra check marks and the court date. Mr. or Mrs. Pleasant Person who
showed some remorse and indicated they would be more carefull usually got the
warning. Most were happy when they understood they were just getting a
warning, but some of them lost their pleasant attitude when they understood
it was a written warning, not a verbal warning. Well, you know how easy it is
to add those couple of check marks and the court date. It's real hard to give
some people a break. Some folks just almost demand the max.
I read in another echo about a speeding ticket, 47 in a 40, but the officer
had a circle around 55 at the bottom of the ticket. The lady said she was
only going 51 and wondered if she should go to court. In Oklahoma, the 7 over
would be a minimum fine and would not go on the State Official Driving
Record. It's not hard to figure out what the officer was trying to do for the
lady. Here, if she goes to court the charge is amended to 55 in a 40 in most
cases, the amount she was actually over the speed limit. I don't know if she
went to court or not, but this is another good example of folks who almost
refuse to take a break. Some people are just hard to figure out.
